Dear Barcelona,

Vulnerable confession, I have a maniacal crush on you. It began in summer 2015 when I saw you for the first time. You checked off all my boxes. Spanish tapas. Barceloneta Beach. Antoni Gaudi. FC Barcelona. Primavera Sound.

I fell head over heels when I droned from Plaça Reial near La Rambla to Port Vell with skies severe clear. Soaring over your voluptuous terracotta grid physique of L’eixample and Quadrat D’or had me stimulated and salivating.

Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is the design art of a genius. You are the closest to perfect of any city I have laid eyes on. Until the moment arises to express my feelings to you in person, let this serve as a gesture of my deep admiration.

Sincerely,
Xynn Tii

Port Vell

This is Catalan modernism. Gothic Quarters is a dream to get lost in.

Montjuic Hill. Santa Caterina. Ornate façades in Mediterranean sun.

Park Güell’s mosaic benches and a multicolored lizard named Drac.

Top down aerial view. Terracotta rooftops. Public parks. Newspaper.

Escapism at National Art Museum of Catalonia. Ballsy drone flights.

Casa Batlló and Casa Milà. La Padrera. Architectural embellishment.

Call-to-action: The Europe tour continues as XYNN Shop is gearing up to open at xynn.co for limited edition framed prints. Send a reply letting me know which photograph from this Series is your favorite. Your feedback helps curation.

I am happy to share that every experience throughout Europe during my lifetime has been pleasant. Well, there was one encounter with Gendarmerie in Nice France that was forgettable. My drone and I walked away unscathed.

What I admire most about Barcelona and much of Europe is how accessible it is. In the same way one can hop from state to state in America, multiple cities of different countries can be explored in a day. Camino de Santiago, anyone?
