Sprinkle. It began in Summer 2019 when Oro Padron visited me in New York. Our brother Elliott Ashby, legacy photographer and videographer, put us on his guest list for an Afro Beats day party at Industry City, fondly named Everyday People.

Celebrate. Fast-forward, joining Everyday People to document its stunning black beauty compels me to visually-address our undeniable impact on global culture. Dance. Fashion. Food. Language. Music. An evolutive footprint.

Stylize. These curated portraits, captured July 5, 2025 during Everyday People x Pier 17, exhibit the spectacular faces and voices who represent our diaspora. All photographs are extracted from 8K video and edited in DaVinci Resolve.

Swag

DJ Moma, Saada Ahmed, and Roblé Ali were lightyears ahead of the Afro Beats trend when they began Everyday People in 2012. A salute to black beauty through music and culture, Everyday People is now a global community.

My initiation to Everyday People of 2019 is a cultural highlight of my life: The first time I experienced thousands of people who looked like me in one place enjoying each other’s company through body movement and mutual tastes.

Thank you Elliott Ashby for bringing me on board. Everyday People day party consistently attract the most gorgeous humans I have ever interacted with. This community has set a tone and standard of respect for its loyal audience.
