Capturing brown skin is easily the most complex task in all of production. Camera sensors still today are designed to interpret fair skin tones over dark. Log camera profiles were actually created as a remedy to this deliberate limitation.
This makes staged lighting imperative to filming execution in dark environments. Polaroids are fun and forgiving. But million dollar sets have zero room for error. We see a future with camera technology inclusive of all subjects.
