“These streets will speak for themselves whether I am alive or dead.” A month of sustained protesting. Witness to inhumane police brutality. Hatred for NYPD proliferates while Occupy City Hall demands reform. An assertive generation fights.

Though we are doing what they want us to do. Gov officials in a position of authority salivate over lower class violence. To them, there is nothing better than street peasants killing each other as it ensures their power and capital remains undisturbed.

Police are not the real decision makers. They are peasants, just like us. Pawns sacrificed as first blood to protect the kingdom from its opposition. And suddenly the paradigm is discernible. We are ignorantly distracted by a street fight against our own class.

NYPD caught flat-footed during a Saturday afternoon on Flatbush Ave.

Well-planned marches intended to block traffic creates a major nuisance.

Eastbound. Brooklyn bridging from Cadman Plaza to Lower Manhattan.

Anthem: “Say his name, George Floyd. Say her name, Breonna Taylor”.

The most foot traffic Broadway has ever seen. Residents rubbernecking.

From TriBeCa to West Village. Rain or sunny, the march does not stop.

Tens of thousands descend on Washington Square. Diversity and unity.

An emotional clinched fist. “This is not a moment. It’s the movement.”

Don’t Walk Away

I stand supportively next to anyone who is willing to do more than just gossip with friends and family about society’s racial injustice. Who are willing to disrupt their lives for what they believe in, refusing to stay at home or give into political fear-based distractions.

America loves trending topics, nonetheless this movement is not going away. This is modern-day civil rights activism that began on the streets and shall not end until demanded change is perpetually instituted. Today’s generation does not tolerate impunity.

Occupy City Hall in New York, and all preceded sit-ins, are the essence of peaceful action to have one’s voice heard and pushing against the law-abiding limits. “Defund NYPD” rings aloud at every protest. These streets continue to speak for themselves.
